THE SECRET GARDENS

These images reflect the gardens in their prime, late 1950s with a view from the rear of the gardens first, past the folly bridge in the direction of Court Green, and the other, the view of the lily pond immediately on the left as you enter the gardens from Newlands Lane.

These are set of drawings of elements from the secret garden, including the dove cot. Looking at the date this seems to be 1928. The dancing ‘cupid’ on the right, was often used in Cober Hill promotional materials. Sadly the Secret Gardens (or Court Green Gardens) are now in disrepair, despite efforts of previous guests to restore them.

This is an oil painting, thought to be painted in the mid 1970s, showing a collection of Cober guests enjoying playing bowls on the bowling green at the Secret Gardens.

This a water colour of the Pigeon Cote, a rare postcard, again, with the gardens at their best.
